ebay. you buy and sell, but its alot of work and you have to work real hard at it to become anything at it, i been doing it for almost a year now and i sell my arts and crafts on there. you can also invest in your interests by buying products you are interested in and knowledgable about real cheap and resel them for what there worth and make a huge profit auctioning them off. -good luck.
Question: Are work-at-home “survey taking” jobs legitimate?
I’m looking for a simple part-time/weekend job that I can do at home, just to earn a little cash to dump into my savings account. I’m not expecting to make millions off this endeavor, of course. Are these websites that offer you a job taking surveys legitimate? Sounds too good to be true, but wondering if they’re just scams.
Or, what about a job stuffing envelopes (direct mail)? Or, taking inventory at a grocery store (using those small hand-held machines)?
Just curious to hear your **constructive** input on this … thanks!

Yes there are legitimate survey sites. I use SurveySavvy and they have always paid out.
Stuffing envelopes however, are not real positions. There are quite a few things you can do at home to earn a little side money, most center around your abilities with a computer and internet connection.
A good discussion on the topic of surveys online is here: http://www.whydowork.com/forums/legit-not-survey-sites-t29181.html

Forget surveys and all the other garbage touting “make Big Bux.” Scams for the most part. A rare few could be good, but you need top notch marketing and web skills.
Those who are successful with a home-based biz have education, experience, expertise, references and referrals, and they know how to market their accounting, consulting, graphic design, etc, services, get clients, run a real business.
At 18, you have no education to speak of, no expertise, and how are you going to get out and market your services? Advertise? Get referrals from your employer and satisfied clients? What can you do? What skills, talents, expertise have you acquired? And what capital do you have to start a biz? Without these, you have no chance.
You’re chasing a myth. Get real and get your act together or you’re vulture food — and the vultures and con artists are circling your neighborhood. You already attracted several by posting on YA — and it’s a question answered dozens of times a day.

“If a company requires initial payment from you in order to work for them, they are not legitimate.”
There are a few legitimate data entry companies but are not hiring and have large waiting lists (1-2yrs). The majority of data entry jobs you seen online are scams. A real company will want you to have skills inc fast typing, may want you to know MS Excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but thats rare.
If you do an advanced search on yahoo, you will find previous answers, sometimes the info on these is good as the info they gave is likely to have been verified if the answer was voted as ‘Best’.

The current economy is such that families are hurting; women are losing jobs, losing hours at work and many are being forced FROM home back to work after husbands job situation has changed. Now, more than ever, with technology, contractor opportunities and a global marketplace, the opportunities are WIDE open for women to create their own financial story.

money doesn’t materialize out of nowhere – if it was easy to stay at home and make money, many people would be doing that.. you have to think what kind of occupations allow for that?.. there are none..

Hi, I’m a single mom of two boys. I’m working on getting a career in Medical Transcriptionist. I’m getting my degree from U.S. Career Institute which are online degrees. You get all the materials sent to you and you do the work at home. My mom’s friend is a medical transcriptionist and she says she loves it. It takes about 4 months to finish this degree if you do your studies about 20 hours a week. If you want more information, let me know? Good Luck!!
Question: Are “work at home” jobs a scam?

99.99999999% are scams. I mean who wouldn’t want to work from home? No commute, no expensive clothes, no child care, etc. If you’ve worked for a company for several years and the employer determines that you are a self-starter and able to work without supervision, you MAY be able to telecommute, but again, that’s what other employees would want to do too.
Following are some links to government sponsored sites that discuss the problems applicable to work at home schemes:

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/products/pro22.shtm
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/menus/consumer/invest.shtm
I know it’s hard to find jobs out there because I’m unemployed too. But don’t be taken advantage of just because rip-off artists are trying to steal your money and time.
